RIVERSIDE BUILDERS
Riverside Builders "The Piling People" has a rich history of construction and development that spans generations. The first generation began in 1938 by William Henry Whichard, the area quickly transformed into a bustling hub for recreation and tourism. The first major construction was an old Army barracks reassembled on the shores of the Pamlico River, which later expanded multiple times to include a dance hall, marina, and other amenities.
Over the years, the Whichard family continued to innovate and rebuild, especially after setbacks like Hurricane Hazel in 1954, which destroyed much of the infrastructure. They introduced features like a concrete boat ramp, waterslides, and campgrounds, making the beach a popular destination for locals and tourists alike2.
This legacy of construction and adaptation reflects the Whichard family's dedication to creating a vibrant community space, blending resilience with creativity. It's a story of turning challenges into opportunities, leaving a lasting impact on the region and a guarantee your eastern North Carolina structure is built with experience and expertise.
